IMAGinE my scrapbook

(left)
Me, knee high to
a grasshopper.

You can see by
the gear that
I came from a
very wealthy
background.

(left)
At 13 I joined the
Bermondsey Sea
Cadet Corp. I was
about 14 here and
am standing beside
the memorial to
HMS Vindictive in
Bruge.

Early days with 562 Parachute Squadron TA. That's me 2nd left
back row with a great
bunch of buddies.
About 1968 I guess.

In '69 I went
hitch-hiking around Europe an North Africa with two great mates, Pete (left of picture with me) and Keith. Heading towards  Tetuán in Marocco.

God knows where Keith is, we used to lose each other for
weeks at a time.

(left) In '71 I took a driving holiday to Italy with a girlfriend. I visited Venice for the first time, which was the start of a lifelong love of the place. Dig the flares and, boy, was I slim then!

(left) I had some fun with the Sealed Knot, re-enacting English Civil War battles. This was taken at Newbury in '73. I don't remember who took it but it is a great photo. Made some great buddies with them. I'm front right with sword.
(right)  Fancy dress parties were always a bit crazy with a bunch of loons.
Nigel on left (now climbs mountains), Spike in middle (now in New Zealand) and me.

(right) In 1980 I joined the Billericay Sub Aqua Club that had just formed. This set me on the road to scuba diving. In the early days we'd dive anywhere. This is Don about to dive a well.
